I'm new to translucent clay, but it sure is a lot of fun to play around with. I love the way that light shines through the wings and horns - reminds me of one of my favorite keychains (a rubbery translucent goldfish). I will definitely need to play around with this some more! This dragon has also been accented with copper pearl-ex mica powder - love how that stuff shimmers!

Yes, I used just a tiny bit of the blue metallic clay that I used for the body. Mica powders work well too - just tried that out yesterday with pleasing results.
It's essentially polymer clay without any pigment added. The clay starts off opaque, but turns translucent when you bake it - I think the effect is very neat! I believe all the major polymer clay manufacturers have a translucent variant. :]
