I'm new to translucent clay, but it sure is a lot of fun to play around with. I love the way that light shines through the wings and horns - reminds me of one of my favorite keychains (a rubbery translucent goldfish). I will definitely need to play around with this some more! This dragon has also been accented with copper pearl-ex mica powder - love how that stuff shimmers!

This dragon is for sale - see Etsy for further information/additional pictures.

This is so great! The translucent clay really sets off the great colour of the dragon's body.

Aw, cute! Did you mix blue with translucent to get the color of his horns and wings?

Yes, I used just a tiny bit of the blue metallic clay that I used for the body. Mica powders work well too - just tried that out yesterday with pleasing results.

It's essentially polymer clay without any pigment added. The clay starts off opaque, but turns translucent when you bake it - I think the effect is very neat! I believe all the major polymer clay manufacturers have a translucent variant. :]
